The District A Fund and PPL Team Up once again at Lafayette Park

In response to a Suggested Project on our web site, the District A Fund Committee voted and agreed to fulfill the request for improvements at Lafayette Park. The District A Fund agreed to pursue the installation of lighting and to purchase and have installed two park benches.

Once again the District A Fund teamed up with PPL to have lighting installed at the park.  Similar to the project at Miner Park, PPL provided and installed lighting at Lafayette Park.

Over the winter, the District A Fund purchased two park benches that are in storage and will be installed in early spring 2010.

Project Description: Lafayette Park is a small open space park located on Lafayette Street in South Wilkes Barre. A resident in the neighborhood suggested lighting, park benches and dog waste stations be installed.

Upon review of the project, the District A Fund agreed to have lighting installed and purchase two park benches for the park.

Reason: Security issue for local residents. Convenience, park benches will provide a place for parents to relax while their children use the park.

Scope of Work: Install lighting to illuminate the park. Purchase and install two park benches.

Goal: Provide lighting for the park for security and safety reasons. Install two park benches to provide additional convenience for the users of the park.

Estimated Cost: $1200 for park benches, light standards and installation provided by PPL.

Project Notes: This lighting will be completed through the cooperation of PPL Corporation. PPL will provide and install the lighting system including the lights, light standards and labor at no cost to the District A Fund.  The park benches will be purchased and installed by the District A Fund.
